Merel Karhof

Merel Karhof mainly works in product design. I looked at three of her projects which are closely linked. In Fossils of Barking, Karhof took 31 elements, including lamposts and signs, from the streets of Barking, East London to make 31 3D prints.

The prints were then used in Plates for Barking on restaurant plates and in Chair for Barking to decorate a park chair for public use. Merel Karhof used the prints that she made and integrated them back into the local community of where they came from.
